SSE Sales – manufacturing
We have recently expanded our manufacturing capability at our Redditch (UK) headquarters. 
We have invested in additional computer controlled machining equipment, so we can increase both quality and production output. We have brought as many processes as possible 'in house' and can now make a range of products from design to completed product.
SSE has manufactured its own speaker enclosures and flightcases since the 1970s. We have always tried to apply the experience we have gained on the road in the Hire business to enable us to make and modify products that as rugged, practical and as easy-to-use as possible.

Many of our products are manufactured and supplied to leading Pro Audio companies, such as Nexo, Yamaha, Soundcraft and Midas. SSE's Manufacturing Facility at Redditch
In 2008, SSE expanded its manufacturing facilities and moved them into a self contained unit within the Company's Redditch headquarters. As well as the installation of new equipment, SSE has taken a number of steps to reduce its environmental impact as much as possible. An emphasis has been placed on recycling within the facility and a wood burning unit has been installed enabling the whole unit to be heated from wood offcuts and chippings.
CAD Design
SSE's Drawing Office creates and files designs for all SSE products, however simple or complex. From drawings, computer controlled machining facilities can produce wood components with absolute consistency. So, for example, if yourflightcase requires a replacement lid, this can be ordered in the knowledge that the new component will be manufactured to the exact specification of the original.
CNC Machining
We have recently added a second CNC machine in the woodworking department, enabling us to effectively double our output and increase our manufacturing flexibility. These facilities enable us to machine timber with complete accuracy, creating for example recesses onflightcases so handles and catches are mounted flush to the surface.
Laminates and Finishing
We manufacture flightcases in a range of designs and finishes, but the two main ranges are:
Our Laminate ('SL') flightcases are constructed from various thicknesses of birch plywood (according to the size and use of the case) and finished in a textured PVC laminate, which is applied in house. We are able to produce a wide range of racks and cases using theSL construction, with a variety of shock-mounting options.
Our Touring ('ST') flightcases are made from 15mm birch plywood and finished in an extremely hard-wearing charcoal carpet. These distinctive cases are used extensively by our hire department and have been proven on the road over many years. They are built in standard sizes to conform with standard truck dimensions dimensions.
Metal Fabrication
Our metalwork department handles aluminium and steel welding using TIG and MIG techniques. We produce 19” rack systems, console support frames, set dollies, staging platforms and our own SetDeck risers.
All of our panelwork is produced by sub-contractors working directly from our computer generated files so that we always maintain complete control of the final product.
Wiring and Cable Systems
Our wiring department assembles and wires all of our cabling systems, patchboxes, stageboxes and mains distribution systems. We have a range of standard metalwork with sub frames and housings to which we can add custom engraved front panels to produce exactly what is needed for each specific application. Again, the experience gained over years of working out solutions within the Hire Division means our customers have the benefit of our expertise.
