Install at Rescue Rooms Bar
SSE has installed a NEXO audio system in the bar of Nottingham's Rescue Rooms venue - part of the Rock City complex.
This upgrade to the installed system was part of a complete renovation of the bar, which in addition to the new PA included a completely new interior design.
While the bar is separate to the main Rescue Rooms venue, it is still an award winning music bar in its own right, hosting live bands, DJs and entertainment right in the heart of the main bar.
DJs were renowned for really testing the old audio system's capabilities, often beyond what it could deliver. So it was important to upgrade the audio as part of the bar refurbishment, making sure there would plenty of headroom for DJs to exploit.
"We just needed something that could handle everything, so DJs can drive it hard but without ever being able to drive it too hard" says Dave McVea, Rock City's Technical Manager.
In response to this, SSE specified a compact NEXO system Based on the PS-R2 series. A combination of PS10 R2, RS15, PS8 speakers, plus LS400 subs were utilised.
"Since the install went in, which was a couple of months ago now, we have had no problems at all. It is a serious system in a relatively small space, but that's what the venue is about and it's working great" says McVea.
There are DJ inputs located at various locations throughout the room, providing considerable flexibility. The PS10 R2 speakers are installed as a main system for live acts performing in the Bar, while the subs have been accommodated within integrated enclosures, constructed by the Rock City team.
Since completing this upgrade to the bar at Rescue Rooms, SSE Installations has installed the main live audio system into the Rescue Rooms venue:
