Topcliffe School Visit
A group of 18 eleven year old pupils from Topcliffe School in Castle Vale Birmingham recently visited SSE Audio Group's headquarters in Redditch.
The visit was arranged by Ian Lowe, the school's Head Teacher and Richard Watts, one of SSE Audio's sales team, following an audio installation completed by SSE at the school, earlier this year.
The aim of the visit was to give the children, who are in their final year at Primary School, an insight into the world of work and different professions and some background related to the equipment they have in school. Ian Lowe was also hoping to motivate some of the children to make full use of their school's audio equipment.
The School has a wide range of children with various learning abilities and uses new technology as widely as possible in its teaching and learning practices. It was therefore appropriate to show the children how SSE functions and uses the latest digital audio technology.
Richard Watts conducted a full tour of SSE's Redditch premises for the children, including manufacturing, electronics and hire. They were able to see the range of techology used by SSE including large digital mixing consoles as they were prepared for a tour or event.
"As they went through every department, they had some very good questions for eleven year-old kids! says Richard Watts. "Our staff were very helpful and answered any questions put to them."
Topcliffe School seeks to promote the development of lively and enquiring minds, equipping each child with the skills for life in an ever changing and demanding society. Hopefully, their visit to SSE Audio Group has made a small contribution to that process.
