‘A View from the top’ in PSN Europe August 2016

Spandau Ballet, who I was PM for last year on their world run, used a K1 system supplied by SSE Hire, and it was excellent. Robbie McGrath mixed FOH on that tour and he flew the PA way upstage vertically in line with the drum riser, which was behind the band, so it allowed way more seats to be sold at the sides of the stage, therefore generating a lot of extra revenue in ticket sales for the band. Robbie would time-align the system each day so the band could perform in front of the PA, plus sell more tickets - and it was a great result.

Pentatonix are a younger act I look after, and they have just been out in Europe using a K2 system also supplied by SSE. The venues were mid-sized, as in the Zénith in Paris and Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam. The K2 worked perfectly for this size of venue. SSE can take a bow for an excellent job on both of these tours.

Cambridge Folk Festival 2016

The complexity of the different styles of performance (music, comedy, theatre, film and dance for example) make it more challenging than many festivals but SSE not only rise to that challenge but succeed too.

Latitude Festival 2016 - Bill Bailey on the Comedy Stage

Latitude was our first Comedy Stage of the festival season, it's a small stage with a big heart.  Our full stage plot was swiftly changed over and patched by SSE alongside Rachel King and her team, which was no mean feat.

Sound check issues with our headsets were solved by SSE's Chris Vass. Many thanks for his knowledge and guidance. I carried his solution forward to all our subsequent festival shows. 

 All communications with SSE via Dan Bennett prior to the show were top notch, thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Latitude Festival 2016 - Sadler's Wells on the Waterfront Stage

This was my second year working on the Waterfront at Latitude festival with SSE Audio Group.

 SSE Hire excel in both putting together a system capable of meeting requirements and engineering/running the stage efficiently with an excellent approach and attitude.  The quality of work is always very high and the guys were always happy to assist and provide where necessary.

 The system was perfectly aligned on a stage that is observed from all sides; SSE delivered with a great deal of efficiency and professionalism.

 Wonderful system and team and I look forward to working with you guys again.

Latitude Festival 2016 - Sturgill Simpson on the Obelisk stage

Multi act festival lineups are terrifying for people like me. Too many artists and too much equipment. I tour manage an artist who is breaking in a big way in the US but is only just starting to get attention in the UK.

We arrive at Latitude 2016 very early in the morning on the last day of the festival. There are strange lighting rigs to work around. There are set pieces that really don’t belong on the stage… Today is probably going to be difficult.

Then there’s the SSE crew who amazingly have our stage plot and input list. They know we have our own consoles. Even more amazing is that they’ve actually looked at our rider and have a plan. The plan they say is good and therefore it will work. They actually do give a shit and even though we are way down at the bottom of the bill are gracious enough to accommodate our last minute changes on our inputs. Then they patch our lines PERFECTLY. Everything works exactly as it should.

“Throw & Go” is never fun but that sunny afternoon on the Obelisk stage, SSE made our show happen and happen exactly as it should.

Best festival day ever.
